Maple Hill Cemetery





Long gone are the days when the neighborhood boys played football in the Whitfields' grassy lot bordered by cemetery plots on three sides and McClung Avenue on the fourth. One winter in the early 1960s, sledders sledded down the hill on the north side, fearless of anything other than the sun's effect on the snow. I know, I was one of them. Now walkers walk and bicyclers bike though the narrow streets in the early mornings and evenings. Maple Hill is on the National Register of Historic Places, and websites about this beautiful resting place abound. However, the best place to start your search, be it for a grave or a cemetery event, is the city of Huntsville's website:
